If you let one (truant student) run loose, what are you gonna’ do with the rest of ‘em? Let them go too? — Houston judge Lanny Moriarty • On his decision to sentence a 17-year-old honor student, who (since her parents divorced and both skipped town) has had to work both a full and a part time job just to support two siblings, to spend a day in jail, after she missed school recently. Diane Tran, who also takes dual-credit college-level courses, says that she’s often so tired that she finds it difficult to wake up for school. But that didn’t sway Moriarty, who chose to make an example of Tran. If you think this sucks, we direct you to this Change.org petition. (via shortformblog)

Liked or Respected?

Crystal asked me this and for a while I didn’t know how to respond. I was extremely busy when she asked me so I said that I would post an answer later. She probably think I forgot about this but nnaahhh I got the memory of an elephant.

Anyways, I would much rather be respected, for the simple reason that it is more valuable to be respected then to be liked. When we were younger, and even now, no one strives to become a “like-able person”. We live to become respected gentlemen. If this was a question of love or respect, then my answer would be different. But to be “liked?” It’s too weak of a phrase. It’s one of those adjectives that just hang around there and evokes a sense of neutrality. In my fraternity, so  many times have a Rushy been described as “a nice guy. I like him” yet, it would make me cringe to see them wearing my Letters. Respect is something much more. To call someone respectable, affirms that they have achieved or possess something or a trait that’s worth admiration. It signifies accomplishment. When you are Liked, you have accomplished nothing.

I think I’ll edit this more when its not 2 AM.

I need this game.

This is actually a pointless post

Being a member of 2/3 legacy suites (and being told I should be in the 3rd, despite it being a guys’ suite) in Norf next year is already confusing. I don’t know if it’s proper to address me as “worst anti-slouch ever” or “worst sbitch ever”. It really does sucks that I can’t “live” in any of them.

(As long as swami and I can still sleep on your floor and your roomie doesnt mind)

Partying in Newport is unbelievable. Have a few drinks and then go skinny dipping in the still-comfortably-warm ocean :)

Irvine’s great like that. The school its self isn’t all that fun (besides doing athletics at the ARC) but once you leave the city: SOO MUCH TO DOO!!!!

(Edit: And you get to visit meeeee :D)

I might have actually gone insane

I sat down in bio this morning and spent 5 seconds looking for my seatbelt, half a second panicking over not having a seatbelt, and the rest of class wondering why the heck I thought I needed a seatbelt.
